Capisce Catering & Market is committed to providing the highest quality, fresh and natural food, small batch in-house roasted coffee, rare wine & spirits, Hawaiian fish, and master butcher meat cuts. Our team will be friendly, eager to serve, and ready to educate anyone curious about food and preparations.

Our Team

Bret Scott Pafford Jr.

Managing Partner

Bret is a Food and Beverage industry vetern with 26 years experience – 19 of which being in upper management. He has been a resident of Maui, Hawaii for the past 12 years – fully immersed in “Aloha” style of hospitality. Bret is a native of Zionsville, Indiana and has since returned “home.” He started cooking at age 14 and notably worked up through the ranks at The Glass Chimney with the late Dieter Puska. After graduating, he attended the Culinary Institute of American in Hyde Park, New York . Bret’s culinary style has been refined working in prominent kitchens in New York, Maui & California. He ha been exposed to great chefs like Sottha Kuhn of Le Cirque and the late Jean-Louis Palladin. Another notable post he held was Food & Beverage manager at the Hyatt Regency Maui (2007-2010).

David Howard

Managing Partner

David Howard, is a graduate of Western Michigan University. He studied cello with Bruce Uchimura and is a member of the Western Michigan Symphony Orchestra as well as the WMC Cello Studio. In 2005, David founded Howard’s Home Improvement, Inc. and has worked hard to earn a reputation as one of Indiana’s most respected builders. David has always had a passion for great food – particularly Latin cuisine. In February of 2015, David partnered with Angel Magno to build and create the flourishing “La Poblana” food truck; consider to be the “most authentic” food truck in Bloomington. Continuing his desire to bring great food to the community, David has partnered with Chef Pafford for all future properties requiring food and beverage.
